Bespoke Mountain Gold and Diamond Ring

The new Gold and Silver Ring set with a Diamond taken from a Client’s Heirloom Ring

Nisha Halo Jewellery in Ulverston, Cumbria designs bespoke jewellery that is personal, meaningful and truly memorable to you. A recent jewellery commission Nisha designed and handcrafted was a sterling silver and gold ring set with a diamond taken from the client’s heirloom ring that had been in her family for decades.

This ring was designed with a mountain range that wraps all the way around the band.

The original damaged ring from which the diamond was extracted

First, Nisha carefully extracted the round diamond from the heirloom setting and, fortunately, it was undamaged (very small gemstones and square stones can sometimes be chipped during removal).

The mountain range cut from gold ready to it is soldered onto the Sterling Silver band

The mountain range was sawn from a single piece of gold and then soldered onto the silver band.

Once the ring was formed and soldered, the gold was shaped and Nisha engraved the mountain ridges and fine details by hand.

Setting a diamond into a new gold tube for the new ring

Finally a new gold seat was fabricated for the diamond, positioned to emulate the sun rising over the mountains.

This bespoke ring example shows how gemstones such as diamonds can be carefully removed from unworn existing jewellery and reset when they are intact — a lovely way to carry special sentiment into a new piece and to give beloved jewellery a renewed life.
